Meghna Arya Miglani says fashion isn’t just for grown-ups and there’s no disputing that statement when you drop into Kidology & Mignon, her designer boutique for kids in Bandra. Surrounded by frilly frocks, miniature versions of jodhpurs and pin-striped suits, you may actually begin to believe that the little ones need a wardrobe upgrade. Miglani, a 28-year-old graduate from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, runs Mignon in collaboration with the Delhi store Kidology, hence the double-barrelled name. The store features a small play area outside and chalkboard surfaces inside to keep the kids entertained while parents shop. Kidology is a ready-to-wear label for girls and boys (6 months-10 years) with signature designs by Gaurav Gupta, Gauri & Nainika, Malini Ramani, Ritu Kumar and Namrata Joshipura. The Mignon section offers custom design and tailoring services (from R2,500) with a range of fairy-tale dresses and gowns along with Indian wear options such as casual kurta-sets, embroidered ready-made saris and chaniya cholis for girls. The store also has matching accessories including headbands, handbags, shoes, sandals, hats, belts, bowties and jewellery.
